At a regular briefing on October 10, Special Prosecutor Jeong Minyoung stated, "We plan to send a summons to former President Yoon on the 13th," adding, "It is customary to allow a few days after the notification, so the questioning is likely to take place in the latter part of next week."

Former President Yoon is suspected of being the main figure behind the so-called 'VIP outrage' that marked the beginning of the alleged investigation interference, and is alleged to have instructed the Presidential Office and the Ministry of National Defense to exclude former Marine Corps 1st Division Commander Lim Seonggeun from the list of suspects.

He is also suspected of having used the National Security Office, the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to help former Defense Minister Lee Jongseop escape to Australia.

The special prosecutor's team, which has conducted five rounds of questioning with former Minister Lee to solidify the charges, is now summoning former President Yoon, who is at the center of the related suspicions, for the first time.

In relation to the allegations of former Minister Lee's escape to Australia, the special prosecutor's team will summon former Presidential Personnel Secretary Lee Wonmo for the second time on the 12th, following the first summons on the 1st of this month.

The special prosecutor's team plans to question former Secretary Lee, who is known to be a close aide to former President Yoon, about whether the personnel verification process for appointing former Minister Lee as ambassador to Australia was properly conducted, and whether there were any specific instructions from the Presidential Office.
