Guest Conductor Kim Geon and Pianist Kim Taehyung to Collaborate on October 21
The Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra will hold its regular concert on October 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Grand Hall of the Daejeon Yeonjeong Korean Traditional Music Center. The concert will be conducted by guest conductor Kim Geon, with pianist Kim Taehyung as the featured soloist, presenting works by two masters who represent Germany and the United Kingdom.
Kim Geon, who serves as the artistic director and principal conductor of the Changwon Philharmonic Orchestra, is a conductor who has built an international reputation through his active performances in the United States and Europe. Pianist Kim Taehyung, who will take the stage as the soloist, has distinguished himself in major international competitions and is recognized as a next-generation maestro, performing across Europe and Asia.
The concert will open with Schumann's only piano concerto, the "Piano Concerto in A minor." This piece, filled with love and romantic sentiment for his wife Clara, is characterized by lyrical melodies and dramatic development. It is expected to shine anew through Kim Taehyung’s delicate yet profound interpretation.
The second part of the program will feature Elgar's "Symphony No. 1 in A-flat major." Regarded as the most beloved symphony among the British, this masterpiece embodies humanitarian ideals and noble aspirations within its grand melodies. The music, blending lyricism and grandeur, is anticipated to deliver deep resonance and moving inspiration to the audience.
