Included Among the 77 National Representatives for Contributions to National Security
Yang Jonghoon, a professor in the Graduate School of Digital Imaging at Sangmyung University, has been selected as one of the "77 National Representatives" in recognition of his dedication to South Korean soldiers on the occasion of the 77th Armed Forces Day.
On October 1, Professor Yang attended the 77th Armed Forces Day ceremony held at Gyeryongdae in South Chungcheong Province as a national representative and joined President Lee Jaemyung for a commemorative luncheon.
For over a decade, Professor Yang has contributed to the advancement of military public relations activities by providing media education to Army public affairs officers and delivering lectures on photojournalism at the Army's 2nd Corps. He has also written columns related to the military, given a commemorative lecture for the 60th anniversary of the 35th Division's founding, and held a photo exhibition on the DMZ. In recognition of these contributions, he received a commendation from the Army Chief of Staff.
Beyond his military-related activities, he serves as the chairman of the Jeju Haenyeo Culture Association, working to preserve and pass down the haenyeo culture. Recently, he has also been volunteering his talents by visiting juvenile detention centers nationwide to take family photos, creating warm memories for youths under probation.
Professor Yang stated, "I will continue to practice sharing through culture and art for those who are easily marginalized in the military and throughout society."
