British Father Gains Attention for Accompanying Daughter on Her Honeymoon
The story of a father who accompanied his daughter on her honeymoon after she was left devastated upon discovering her fianc?'s infidelity just four days before the wedding has moved many people.
According to The Mirror and other outlets on October 8 (Korean time), Toby Elder, a 39-year-old woman from Nebraska, United States, had been friends with her fianc? Ryan for 10 years before they became a couple in 2022. Ryan was a devoted partner who took care of cooking and cleaning, and the two held their engagement ceremony in December last year.
The happiness was short-lived. At the end of last month, just four days before the wedding, Toby, who was excitedly preparing for her wedding at a nail salon, received an anonymous message on her phone. The sender claimed that Ryan, her fianc?, "was lying to you" and sent photos capturing private conversations that suggested an affair. The message included the words, "I love you, I miss you."
After seeing this, Toby immediately called Ryan to confront him. Ryan admitted, "I've been talking to that woman for several months." He then tried to justify his actions by saying, "I wasn't sure if your goal of moving to Florida matched mine. I was worried that you might eventually leave me."
Toby recalled, "Ryan and I had been friends for 10 years, and we supported each other when we both went through divorces. When we became a couple in 2022, people around us said, 'He's the man you've been waiting for,' and 'You've hit the jackpot.' I thought he was the best and truly believed in him. I uprooted my life to be with him. Ryan cooked, cleaned, and did everything for me. We never even had a single argument."

After canceling the wedding, Toby boarded a plane to Hawaii, which was supposed to be their honeymoon destination, alone. But there, she received another message-this time from her father, Rob, 68. He wrote, "My beloved daughter, I don't want you to be alone. I will come to be with you on the day your wedding was supposed to happen."
On the day of the wedding, father and daughter had an emotional reunion at the Hawaii airport. Toby captured the moment on video and uploaded it to TikTok. The caption, "A trip to Hawaii with my dad instead of a wedding," quickly went viral. The video surpassed 6 million views, with thousands of supportive comments such as, "You dodged a bullet and won at life."
She said, "I'm so happy my dad was there for me. I will remember it forever," adding, "I'm still in shock over the broken engagement, but I'm trying to be strong."
Toby has since cut off contact with Ryan and is preparing for a new chapter in her life. She added, "Everything fell apart, but life can be rebuilt. This experience brought me closer to my father, and that was the real gift in my life."
