At 8:11 a.m. on October 7, a 200-ton pump dredger named A was flooded near Myodo Bridge in Yeosu, Jeollanam-do.

After receiving the report and being dispatched to the scene, the Yeosu Coast Guard found that a hole had formed in the ballast water storage tank (which is filled with seawater to maintain the ship's balance) at the port stern side of vessel A, resulting in partial damage to the hull.

The coast guard deployed response and patrol vessels to carry out water sealing and drainage operations. There were no signs of oil or other pollutants leaking into the sea.

At the time, vessel A was anchored for an extended period and it was confirmed that there were no crew members on board.

A Yeosu Coast Guard official stated, "Even vessels that are anchored require regular inspection and maintenance, so we hope that ship owners and related parties will strengthen their safety checks."
