Creating a Pleasant Urban Environment Free of Abandoned Waste
On October 5, one day before Chuseok, Yangsan City in South Gyeongsang Province conducted a large-scale joint cleanup involving both public and private sectors to present citizens with a pleasant and vibrant city image.
Approximately 100 participants, including Yangsan Mayor Na Dongyeon, members of civic organizations, and public officials, took part in the Chuseok cleanup. The effort focused on key areas of daily life such as the old downtown area around Nambu Market, the Namyangsan IC access road, and the banks of the Hoeya River.
This cleanup carried significance beyond simple environmental maintenance. By creating clean and organized streets and market environments, the initiative aimed to leave a positive impression on visitors returning home for the holiday after a long time, while also fostering community pride and a sense of shared responsibility among residents.
Mayor Na Dongyeon stated, "Each small maintenance activity greatly contributes to building a clean image for our city. Taking this Chuseok cleanup as an opportunity, we will continue to collaborate with citizens and organizations to make Yangsan City cleaner and more beautiful."
