Driving with a Blood Alcohol Concentration of 0.127%, Exceeding License Revocation Threshold
On October 5, Chief Judge Kim Junghoon of the Daejeon District Court Criminal Division 3 announced that he had sentenced A (age 25) to a fine of 5 million won for driving under the influence in violation of the Road Traffic Act.
A was brought to trial on charges of driving a passenger car for approximately 1 meter in the parking lot of a villa in Daejeon last January, with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.127%, which is above the license revocation threshold.
Judge Kim stated, "Although the blood alcohol level was very high, I took into consideration the extremely short distance driven and the fact that the defendant has no prior record of drunk driving."
