On October 4, the Gwangju Metropolitan Chapter of the Democratic Party of Korea held a performance at Gwangju Songjeong Station to call for an increase in KTX services and welcomed travelers returning home for the Chuseok holiday.

The performance and welcoming event at Gwangju Songjeong Station was attended by Yang Bunam, head of the Democratic Party’s Gwangju chapter; Gwangju-area lawmakers (Min Hyungbae, Jeong Jinwook, Ahn Dogeol, Cho Incheol, Jeong Junho, Jeon Jinsook, Park Kyuntaek); Gwangju Mayor Kang Gijung; the heads of three Gwangju districts (Kim Ikang of Seo District, Kim Byeongnae of Nam District, and Park Byeonggyu of Gwangsan District); as well as over 100 local council members and key party members.

This event was organized to highlight the severe shortage of KTX services on the Honam Line, urge improvements to transportation measures, and extend a warm welcome to those returning home for the holiday.

Yang Bunam, head of the Democratic Party’s Gwangju chapter (Gwangju Seo District B), stated, “The Honam Line KTX has long suffered from a severe lack of train allocations and service frequency, causing significant inconvenience for citizens. It is essential to expand operations in a stable and regular manner, not just through temporary solutions.”

He added, “The Democratic Party will do its utmost to ensure that the Honam Line KTX becomes a transportation network that is convenient and fair for everyone. I hope this holiday with your families will be a time of abundance and happiness.”

Meanwhile, elected officials from the Democratic Party’s Gwangju Metropolitan Chapter are visiting traditional markets and welfare facilities ahead of the Chuseok holiday, listening to citizens’ concerns and paying close attention to their livelihoods.
