South Jeolla Fire Headquarters to Investigate Exact Cause of the Incident
A fire broke out at a pig farm in Haenam County, South Jeolla Province, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of pigs inside the livestock facility.
According to the South Jeolla Fire Headquarters, the fire started at around 3:24 p.m. the previous day at a pigsty in Hwangsan-myeon, Haenam County.
The fire was extinguished by the fire authorities in about an hour and 30 minutes, but approximately 400 pigs, including sows, perished, and one pigsty building (540 square meters) was burned. As a result, property damage is estimated at around 850 million won (according to the fire department).
The fire authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire.
