On October 3, ahead of the Chuseok holiday, Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, visited the joint memorial altar at Muan Airport for the victims of the Jeju Air passenger plane accident, laying flowers and offering incense to honor the souls of those who lost their lives.
He then visited the family shelter, where he met with Kim Yujin, the representative of the bereaved families, as well as other family members, expressing his deepest condolences and sympathy, and delivered a letter of comfort.
Governor Kim stated, "My heart is heavy when I think of the bereaved families who lost their precious loved ones in last year's tragedy and are still enduring each day in grief. I sincerely hope that all residents of the province will stand together with the bereaved families, so that peace and hope may be restored."
He continued, "A thorough investigation that the bereaved families can accept must be carried out. Jeollanam-do will stand by you until the end to ensure that the results of an objective and fair investigation based on data are announced as soon as possible." He added, "We will also faithfully implement various support programs, such as living and medical expense assistance, to provide meaningful help to the bereaved families."
Jeollanam-do plans to continue listening to the voices of the bereaved families and actively pursue support for the victims going forward.
