Assemblywoman Hong Nayoung, who serves as the floor leader of the People Power Party in the Sejong City Council, has been appointed as the chairwoman of the Women’s Committee of the Sejong City Branch and will now lead the committee.

The People Power Party has been embroiled in numerous political controversies, leading to a somewhat critical perspective from the public. As a result, the party has been largely out of the spotlight, and it is true that the Women’s Committee, one of the key positions within the city branch, has not been fulfilling its role. With Assemblywoman Hong taking on the role of chairwoman, attention is focused on whether she can regain the citizens’ forgotten interest.

According to local political circles, Chairwoman Hong has already begun reorganizing the Women’s Committee by leading about 30 female party members. The plan is to take actions for the people's livelihood and to restore the lost attention and expectations of citizens. On October 2, the Women’s Committee held a shopping event at Singsing Market in Sodam-dong, marking the start of direct engagement with citizens. The intention is to earn citizens’ support with genuine sincerity.

In particular, the committee plans to listen to the voices of small business owners who are struggling with declining sales due to economic difficulties and to seek solutions for revitalizing the local economy directly on site.

Chairwoman Hong Nayoung emphasized, “Going forward, we will meet and communicate with citizens every month, help them find moments of laughter even during difficult times, and make every effort to clear up any misunderstandings about our party arising from the political situation. We will grow into a Women’s Committee that shares joys and sorrows alongside the citizens.”
