In a written briefing, spokesperson Boo Seungchan stated, "The arrest of former Chairperson Lee is a natural consequence of her forgetting her duties as a public official and repeatedly making outrageous remarks on various YouTube channels, such as calling leftist groups 'groups that do everything we can imagine.'"

Spokesperson Boo emphasized, "We urge the investigative authorities to swiftly and thoroughly uncover the truth in accordance with the law and principles," adding, "The Democratic Party will respond firmly to any illegal acts that undermine the independence of broadcasting and the fairness of elections."

Choi Minhee, Chairperson of the National Assembly Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee, wrote on Facebook, "It is regrettable that it took so long," and urged, "Even now, we hope for a proper investigation into the criminal allegations against 'private citizen Lee Jin-sook.'"

Kim Yongmin, the ruling party secretary of the National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee, commented on Facebook, "Yoon Suk-yeol's bail was denied, Kwon Seong-dong was indicted and detained, and Lee Jin-sook was arrested. Progress is slow, but things are being set right," adding, "We will make sure to restore justice that someone has twisted."

Earlier, in July, the Democratic Party filed a complaint against former Chairperson Lee for alleged violations of election law and other charges. The Board of Audit and Inspection also issued a 'warning,' stating that former Chairperson Lee had violated the obligation of political neutrality as a public official.

On the afternoon of October 2, the Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul executed an arrest warrant near Lee's residence in Daechi-dong, Gangnam-gu, after obtaining the warrant from the court. The warrant was issued because former Chairperson Lee had failed to comply with more than three summonses.
