On October 2, President Lee Jaemyung appointed Song Kyunghee, head of the Artificial Intelligence Reliability Center at Sungkyunkwan University's Institute of Artificial Intelligence Convergence, as Chairperson of the Personal Information Protection Commission. Kim Hyunkwon, former National Assembly member, was selected as Chairperson of the High-Level Radioactive Waste Management Committee.

Kang Yujeong, spokesperson for the Presidential Office, announced the appointments of ministers and vice ministers during a briefing at the Yongsan Presidential Office on the same day.

Chairperson Song is a former government official who passed the 39th civil service examination and previously served as Director General for Software Policy and Director General for AI-Based Policy at the Ministry of Science and ICT, as well as Head of the Intellectual Property Strategy Planning Division. Most recently, she led the Artificial Intelligence Reliability Center at Sungkyunkwan University. Spokesperson Kang described her as "an expert in AI policy and user protection," and stated, "She is the right person to harmoniously lead the establishment of a personal information protection system and the promotion of AI, especially as technological advancements increase threats to personal information."

Chairperson Kim Hyunkwon served as a member of the 20th National Assembly and has held positions as a member of the Presidential Committee on Carbon Neutrality and as Chairperson of the Special Committee on Agriculture, Fisheries, and Rural Affairs. Spokesperson Kang expressed expectations, saying, "As the inaugural chairperson, we hope he will successfully promote social dialogue and resolve conflicts, given the need to address national issues that may lead to social discord through communication and deliberation."
