Yangpyeong County (Governor Jeon Jinseon) announced on October 2 that it had successfully concluded the "2025 Yangpyeong County Sustainable Development University Leadership Course," which was held over two days, September 24 and October 1, at the county office's main conference room.

This program was conducted in accordance with Yangpyeong County's basic strategy and implementation plan for sustainable development, and was carried out with the active participation of local leaders.


The course consisted of two sessions, each held from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM for two hours, and featured top domestic experts in the fields of environment and sustainable development, who delivered high-level lectures.


On the first day, Professor Song Miyeong of Dongguk University gave a lecture titled "Suggestions for Yangpyeong as a Leading City in Environmental Education," presenting the direction and practical vision for environmental education in Yangpyeong. This was followed by Professor Lee Wookyun of Korea University, who delivered a presentation on "What Does Yangpyeong Need to Be Sustainable?" focusing on the county's forest resources, which was met with a positive response.


On the second day, Choi Jaecheol, Chairman of the Climate Change Center, delivered a lecture on "The Sustainable Future of Yangpyeong," emphasizing the role of local governments and the importance of regional leaders in responding to the climate crisis. After the lecture, a certificate awarding ceremony and a commemorative performance were held, adding further significance to the program.


This year's leadership course saw a total of 30 participants complete the program, including Choi Youngsik, Director of the Yangpyeong Cultural Center, as well as leaders from a variety of fields such as institutions, governance, agriculture and economy, welfare, society and education, and environment and forestry.


Governor Jeon Jinseon stated, "Sustainable development created together with the residents is the most solid foundation for future generations," and emphasized, "The cooperation of leaders is essential to realize Yangpyeong as a leading city in environmental education and as a model of sustainability, and we will continue to expand various programs to achieve this goal."
