Targeting the upcoming Chuseok holiday period, which extends for up to ten days, major shopping centers, hotels, and resorts are preparing to welcome customers with a variety of attractions and activities.
According to industry sources on October 4, Lotte World Tower’s observatory, Seoul Sky, will host a small concert series called 'Open Stage in Seoul Sky' from October 6 to 8, held at the highest point in Seoul. This customer-participation busking performance will take place every day at 6 p.m. during the event period.
At Lotte Museum, tickets for the 'Ok Seungcheol: Prototype' exhibition will be available at a 50% discount for two days, October 5 and 7. This is the first large-scale solo exhibition by the popular artist Ok Seungcheol, featuring more than 80 pieces including new works in both painting and sculpture. The exhibition will be open for viewing until October 26.
At Starfield Goyang, Anseong, and Suwon, operated by Shinsegae Property, a traditional game experience zone will be available starting October 5. Each location will offer various folk games such as jegichagi, giant yutnori, and tuho, allowing families to enjoy them together, as well as a Minhwa coloring experience. At Starfield COEX Mall, in celebration of Hangeul Day, a Hangeul Love Festival will be held on October 8 and 9. Events include the 'Hangeul Roulette,' where participants can win prizes such as Hangeul-patterned hand mirrors, keyrings, and jelly, as well as calligraphy experiences, and a 'Photo Printer' event where visitors can print out photos taken at Starfield as keepsakes.
At Hyundai Department Store, a Chuseok Moon Viewing Experience pop-up store in collaboration with Disney Store will be held in the Topaz Hall on the 10th floor of the Pangyo branch until October 19. This pop-up combines the Disney Store, operated by Hyundai Department Store, with an immersive exhibition themed around Chuseok holiday experiences. Visitors can participate in the exhibition and also discover more than ten products featuring Mickey Mouse and friends dressed in hanbok.
At HDC IPark Mall Yongsan, the 'Korea Board Games Collection Pop-up Store' will be open until October 9, offering products such as board games, GraviTrax, Hot Wheels, sports cards, and Hexbug that families can enjoy together. At Gonjiam Resort in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, near Seoul, the 'Chuseok Family Festival' will run until October 7, providing a range of activities for the whole family. The 'Chuseok Hanmadang' event offers various traditional experiences and game-based content, along with dance performances, accordion and juggling shows on the lawn plaza. In the evening, guests can enjoy 'Oktoberfest'-featuring a variety of platters and beers from around the world-at three different dining venues: the outdoor pub Forestreet, the family restaurant Miracia, and the cave Italian restaurant La Grotta.
In addition, at Inspire Entertainment Resort on Yeongjongdo, Incheon, the 'Twilight Market' will be held at Discovery Park, an outdoor entertainment park spanning 99,173 square meters (approximately 30,000 pyeong), until October 6. The Twilight Market is divided into a total of six zones, including a flea market zone offering food and a variety of goods. Notably, four chefs who appeared on the cooking competition program 'Black & White Chef' will collaborate to serve their signature dishes from a single food truck. There will also be a mini concert zone featuring artists from the renowned jazz bar 'Get All Right' and performances across various music genres, a Luminous Zone that provides a sense of wonder through lighting and illuminated objects such as giant planet installations and interactive air balls, and a large moon sculpture called 'Super Moon.'
