During the Chuseok holiday period (October 3 to 9, 2025), residents will be able to dispose of household waste on October 3, October 6 (Chuseok Day), and the last day of the holiday, October 9. The city will conduct special collection on two days, but since the operation of personnel and vehicles will be limited during the holiday, citizens are asked to refrain from disposing of waste as much as possible. After the holiday, the city requests that waste be disposed of in several batches over time.

To minimize inconvenience during the holiday, the city will carry out special collection by contracted service providers and handle urgent complaints through its directly managed sanitation workers.

First, special collection by contracted service providers will take place on October 7 and 8, the days following Chuseok, focusing on waste concentrated at collection points. The goal is to quickly process the accumulated household waste during the holiday and minimize environmental inconvenience in urban areas.

The city’s directly managed sanitation workers will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness along major roads and responding to urgent complaints for three days from October 6 to 8. Their role is to promptly address unexpected situations or citizen inconveniences that may arise during the holiday period.

Meanwhile, on September 26, the city held a meeting with local organizations and related agencies to discuss various measures for effectively managing waste issues during the Chuseok holiday. Through this meeting, the city emphasized the importance of following disposal times, strengthening waste separation, and cooperating on waste management, calling for active citizen participation.

A Chuncheon City official stated, "We will do our utmost with our waste management measures so that both returning visitors and residents can enjoy a bountiful and happy Chuseok holiday. In particular, in order to prevent a holiday waste crisis, we would appreciate it if citizens could dispose of waste in batches after the holiday, and strictly observe waste reduction and separation as a sign of mature civic awareness."
