Three Varieties to Be Purchased: Sindongjin, Saecheongmu, and Baromi2
Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province announced on October 2 that it will purchase 11,996 tons of "2025 Public Reserve Rice" starting from the 10th.
This year's purchase volume is 8.6% higher than last year's allocation of 11,042 tons. The allocation was determined based on last year's purchase performance and the area of rice cultivation.

The city will purchase three designated rice varieties: Sindongjin, Saecheongmu, and Baromi2. The city emphasized that farmers who ship rice varieties other than those specified will be excluded from the purchase program for five years, urging farmers to pay close attention to this requirement.
The purchase period varies by type. Freshly harvested (wet) rice will be purchased from the 10th to the 24th, powder rice from October 20 to November 7, and dried rice from November 10 to December 31.
Upon purchase, an interim payment of 40,000 won per 40 kilograms will be made immediately, and the final settlement will be paid at the end of the year after the nationwide average rice price for the harvest season (October to December), as determined by Statistics Korea, is finalized.
Goh Yuhwa, head of the Agricultural and Fisheries Distribution Division, stated, "We hope that the purchase of public reserve rice will help increase the income of farmers who have worked hard throughout the year," adding, "Above all, we ask for the active cooperation of farmers and those involved in the purchasing process to ensure safety."
Meanwhile, to ensure smooth operations, the city held a training session on purchasing procedures and safety at the Agricultural Technology Center on October 2, attended by 66 people including township officials and government grain warehouse managers. The training was organized to prevent safety accidents during the purchasing process and to enhance the participants' understanding of their work.
