Shinan County in South Jeolla Province has launched a campaign to raise traffic safety awareness among residents and reduce traffic accidents.

The county announced on October 2 that it conducted a "Traffic Accident Prevention Campaign" on September 30 at Amtai Namgang Pier, with participation from related departments including the Safety General Division, Traffic Support Division, Administrative Support Division, and Island Development Promotion Division.

The event focused on promoting and guiding basic safety rules, such as compliance with traffic laws, eradicating drunk driving, maintaining safe speeds, and protecting pedestrians.

Kim Daein, acting governor of Shinan County, stated, "Traffic accidents can happen to anyone, but they can be prevented through the safety awareness of each resident," adding, "We will continue to create a safer Shinan County through various campaigns and educational programs."

The county plans to operate a special traffic safety campaign separately in preparation for increased traffic during the Chuseok holiday. In addition, it will strengthen protection for vulnerable groups by providing tailored education for elderly drivers through the "Namdo Safety Academy" program.

A county official said, "We will continue to promote traffic safety and provide education to create an environment where all residents can feel safe."
