Ministry of Culture to Unveil Park Bogum Hanbok Pictorial Video Worldwide on Chuseok

A video pictorial of actor Park Bogum wearing hanbok will be released worldwide on Chuseok, October 6.

On October 2, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that, in collaboration with the Korea Craft & Design Foundation, it would unveil actor Park Bogum's hanbok, created as part of the "2025 Hanbok Wave: Hallyu-Linked Collaboration Content Development" project.

Hanbok Wave is a project that brings together talented hanbok designers and Hallyu cultural artists to develop hanbok and present it on the global stage. In previous years, actress Kim Taeri (2024), singer and actress Suzy (2023), and former figure skater Kim Yuna (2022) participated to showcase the beauty of hanbok. This year, to highlight the elegance of men's hanbok, actor Park Bogum was selected as the first solo male model.

Four domestic hanbok brands selected through a public contest-Dadada Hanbok, Murut, One Origin, and Hanbok Moon-participated in the project.

From the planning stage, Park Bogum worked closely with designers to complete hanbok designs that combine traditional beauty with modern sensibilities. Park Bogum will showcase the elegance of hanbok through four pieces: a hanbok embroidered with the national flower mugunghwa to embody the dignity of a scholar (Dadada Hanbok); a hanbok that reinterprets the majesty of Goguryeo attire in a modern way (One Origin); a hanbok inspired by the rounded sleeves of the jeogori and the pleats of the cheollik (Murut); and a hanbok expressing upright spirit based on landscape paintings (Hanbok Moon).

To share the beauty of hanbok with the world, the Ministry will release the completed pictorial as a video on Chuseok, October 6. The video will be displayed on electronic billboards in major fashion capitals, including Times Square in New York, Piazza del Duomo in Milan, Shinjuku in Tokyo, and Citadium Caumartin in Paris. In particular, the video will be shown at Citadium Caumartin in Paris until October 12.

In Seoul, the video will be displayed on the Shinsegae Square billboard in Myeong-dong from Chuseok through the end of October. On Chuseok, additional photos from the hanbok pictorial and an interview video will also be available on the official social media channels of the Ministry and the Korea Craft & Design Foundation.

A physical photo book will be published as a special edition of Harper's Bazaar Korea on October 10. The magazine will feature an interview with Park Bogum and stories about his collaboration with the designers.

Lee Jeongmi, Director of Culture Policy at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated, "The recent trend in Hallyu is the fusion of traditional culture with popular culture to create refined style. We hope that, together with Hallyu star Park Bogum, the beauty of modern men's hanbok will be introduced to the world."
