Support Provided to 200 Underprivileged Households in the Area
Including Welfare Blind Spots and Elderly Living Alone
The Gyobang-dong Administrative Welfare Center in Masanhappo-gu, Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, delivered 100 bags of rice and 100 boxes of ramen, donated by the Residents’ Autonomous Committee, the Tongwoo Association, other local organizations, and individual donors, to underprivileged households in the area ahead of Chuseok, a traditional Korean holiday.
The event, held on September 30, aimed to share warmth so that neighbors in need could enjoy a bountiful and heartwarming holiday. The local community leaders personally visited 200 underprivileged households, including those in welfare blind spots and elderly people living alone, to deliver the donated goods and check on their well-being.
An Kyungmae, head of the Residents’ Autonomous Committee who participated in the event, said, “I ask for your continued interest so that none of our neighbors feel left out and everyone can spend a warm holiday. I wish all Gyobang-dong residents a plentiful Chuseok filled with health and good fortune.”
Yoon Jeongmi, head of Gyobang-dong, stated, “I am very pleased that we could share with our neighbors during this abundant Chuseok. I deeply appreciate the warm hearts and active participation of all members of local organizations in Gyobang-dong who practice a culture of giving every year for the community. I hope we can continue working together to make our village a warmer and happier community, and I wish all local residents and seniors a healthy and bountiful Chuseok.”
Meanwhile, Gyobang-dong holds its “Sharing Love with Neighbors” event every year for both Lunar New Year and Chuseok, led by the Residents’ Autonomous Committee with participation from all local organizations, the Tongwoo Association, and individual donors.
