"Not Even One Drink" ... Gyeongnam Police to Strictly Crack Down on Drunk Driving During Chuseok

The Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency will conduct a large-scale crackdown on drunk driving across the province on October 2, in line with the Chuseok holiday.

The agency plans to carry out sobriety checkpoints not only in entertainment districts and restaurant areas, but also at highway entrances and exits used by people returning home for the holidays.

All available personnel will be mobilized for the crackdown, including the provincial mobile enforcement team, highway patrol units, and traffic officers from local police stations.

According to the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency, there have been a total of 41 drunk driving traffic accidents during the Chuseok holiday period over the past three years, resulting in two fatalities.

The agency believes that the increase in gatherings during the extended holiday has led to more cases of drunk driving, and will therefore also target morning-after driving due to hangovers and lunchtime drinking.

A representative from the agency urged, "Do not drive if you have even a single drink," and added, "We hope everyone has a safe journey home."
