Gwangju Office of Education to Recruit 69 Secondary School Teachers for 2026

The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education announced the '2026 Public Secondary School Teacher Recruitment Examination Plan' on its website on October 1.

Gwangju Office of Education to Recruit 69 Secondary School Teachers for 2026 Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education.

This year, 69 teachers will be recruited across 21 subjects, including health, nutrition, counseling, and special education (secondary)-64 for the general category and 5 for persons with disabilities-an increase of 19 from last year's 50 positions.

For the first time, a total quota system for candidates with disabilities has been introduced for subject teachers to expand opportunities for disabled teachers. As a result, four teachers with disabilities will be recruited across all subject areas without any subject restrictions, and one additional teacher will be recruited in the health subject area.

The examination will be conducted in two rounds. The first round will take place on November 22 and will consist of an essay-type test in education and short-answer and descriptive questions in the applicant's major. The second round will be held for those who pass the first round, with a practical test on January 14 next year, followed by teaching demonstrations and in-depth aptitude interviews on January 20-21.

Applicants must hold a teaching certificate in the relevant subject or be scheduled to obtain one by the end of February 2026. Applications can be submitted online through the teacher recruitment system from October 13 to 17.

Applicants for public schools may also apply for teacher positions in seven subjects offered by four private school corporations in Gwangju during the same period. However, candidates must check for themselves whether simultaneous applications are permitted.

The results of the first round will be announced on December 26, and the final successful candidates will be released on February 5, 2026.
