According to Gwangju Shinsegae on October 1, the sports industry estimates that the number of runners in Korea exceeds 10 million, and the company expects this promotion to attract even more runners to the store.
Running is considered advantageous because it can be started at a lower cost compared to golf or tennis, and it can be enjoyed alone. As a result, customers searching for running gear have been continuously visiting Gwangju Shinsegae Place Spot.
In fact, sales of sports brands over the three-month period from July to September increased by more than 10% compared to the same period last year. In particular, New Balance, which is highly popular for running gear, recorded a nearly 100% increase in sales year-on-year, while Adidas also saw sales rise by over 40%, reflecting the growing popularity of running.
The New Balance store at Gwangju Shinsegae Place Spot is the largest in the Honam region and features models such as the SC Elite V and SC Pacer V2, which are rarely found in regular stores.
The most popular running product at Gwangju Shinsegae New Balance is the SC Trainer V3 (249,000 won). With excellent cushioning, it is well received by customers as a running shoe suitable for both daily training and actual marathons.
Puma, a sports brand that opened at Gwangju Shinsegae Place Spot in August, is also gaining popularity with the Deviate Nitro Elite (289,000 won) model, available at the newly opened Gwangju Shinsegae Puma store. This product is designed for professional runners, with an internal carbon fiber plate that ensures high running efficiency.
Gwangju Shinsegae will run its promotion for customers seeking running gear until October 12. Nike is offering a 20% discount on running apparel, with some items excluded. Reebok is offering a 10% discount on purchases over 150,000 won and a 20% discount on purchases over 300,000 won. Umbro and Fila are giving away a shoe pouch and socks, respectively, with the purchase of running shoes.
An SNS event is also being held simultaneously. Until October 12, customers who upload photos of products or themselves wearing products purchased at Gwangju Shinsegae Place Spot sports brand stores to Instagram, along with the reason for their selection and the hashtag @gwangju_shinsegae, will be entered into a drawing to win a 20,000 won voucher for use at sports brands.
Lee Jeongil, Team Leader of Place Spot at Gwangju Shinsegae, said, "We have prepared a wide range of products and generous promotions for customers interested in running this autumn. We hope you will visit Gwangju Shinsegae, where you can find popular domestic and international brands all in one place, and discover the best products for you."
