Workers at 15 airports nationwide, including Incheon and Gimpo airports, are launching an indefinite general strike on October 1.

The National Airport Workers' Solidarity announced that it would begin a full-scale, indefinite strike starting at 6 a.m. on this day. The group will hold a "National Airport Workers' General Strike Rally" near Exit 3 of the domestic terminal at Gimpo Airport at 2 p.m. In addition, preliminary rallies will be held at 9:30 a.m. on the 3rd floor of Terminal 1 at Incheon International Airport and at 10 a.m. near Exit 3 of the domestic terminal at Gimpo Airport. The workers plan to continue the strike, including during the National Foundation Day and Chuseok holidays, until their demands are met.

The National Airport Workers' Solidarity, which brings together the Incheon Airport Branch of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions Public Transport Union and the National Airport Labor Union, is composed of 15,000 workers at 15 airports nationwide, including Incheon and Gimpo. These workers are responsible for runway and terminal maintenance, firefighting, and electrical facility management.

Previously, on September 19, they held a one-day "warning strike" demanding a shift from the current three-shift, two-team system to a four-shift, two-team system, as well as improvements to address disadvantages faced by employees of subsidiary companies.
