Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, emphasized on the 30th, "We will fully leverage Damyang's unique charm and value to make it the number one destination for innovative stay-type tourism in Korea."

At the Damyang County Policy Vision Tour held at Songgang Hall in Damyang Resort that day, Governor Kim stated, "Now is the perfect opportunity for Damyang to make a dynamic leap as the central city of the southern region."

Approximately 200 people attended the Policy Vision Tour, including Governor Kim, Jeong Cheolwon, Mayor of Damyang County, Park Jongwon and Lee Gyuhyun, members of the Jeollanam-do Provincial Assembly, Jang Myeongyoung, Chairman of the Damyang County Council, and local residents.

In his welcoming remarks, Mayor Jeong Cheolwon said, "I hope this Policy Vision Tour becomes a meaningful occasion for Jeollanam-do and Damyang County to lay the foundation for the future together," adding, "Now is the time for Damyang County to achieve even greater growth based on its past accomplishments."

In his greeting, Governor Kim described Damyang County as "a special place that is the source of the Yeongsan River, which brings life and culture to every corner of Jeollanam-do, and is exceptional not only for its natural environment, but also for its history and cuisine."

He continued, "With national treasure-level garden assets such as Juknokwon, the largest bamboo forest in Korea, Soswaewon, a renowned private garden from the Joseon Dynasty, and Myeongokheon Garden, Damyang is evolving into a city of garden culture. Building on these achievements, we will make Damyang an even better place to live and a destination everyone wants to visit."

On this day, the Jeonnam Research Institute presented Damyang's ten core future visions under the slogan "A Sustainable Damyang Where Rest and Life Coexist in Gardens."

The ten visions for Damyang include: ▲ Eco-tours of mountains, forests, and lakes that inspire reflection while walking ▲ Globalization of Damyang as a thousand-year-old city of culture and arts enjoyed in gardens ▲ Establishment of a "Let's Run Park" as a hub for healing tourism ▲ Leading the K-Gourmet Belt ▲ Innovative agriculture and happy farmers with "Very Good, Damyang" ▲ Fostering bamboo and local industries into future green industries ▲ Damyang Ondol (Warmth + Care) ▲ Creation of a high-quality integrated residential town ▲ OK Jeonnam transportation hub ▲ Building a smart mobility and logistics system.

The subsequent policy discussion was conducted in a Q&A format among Damyang residents, Governor Kim Youngrok, and directors and heads of Jeollanam-do provincial departments.

Residents put forward a variety of suggestions, including the relocation and expansion of the Singye Water Purification Plant and installation of advanced water treatment facilities, support for the construction of large-scale agricultural machinery storage warehouses, a pilot project for providing distribution boxes for greenhouses, upgrading the Damyang strawberry foundation plant supply system, disaster recovery funding for the Damyang Sports Complex, purchasing a bus for the Hyangchon Senior Welfare Center, and incorporating road construction and management plans.

In response, Governor Kim stated, "We will provide 1 billion won in funding for the relocation and expansion of the Singye Water Purification Plant and the installation of advanced water treatment facilities," and added, "For disaster recovery funding for the Damyang Sports Complex, we will support 200 to 300 million won, which is within 30% of the 1.4 billion won that Damyang County is responsible for."
