Practicing Warmth and Sharing: Goryeong County Officials Visit Partnered Households for Chuseok

Goryeong County in North Gyeongsang Province (Governor Namchul Lee) marked the Chuseok holiday by having public officials personally visit households with which they are partnered, putting the spirit of sharing into practice.

During these visits, officials checked in on households facing difficulties, including seniors living alone, grandparent-grandchild families, multicultural families, and low-income families, to see how they were doing and to assess their living conditions.

The partnership activities go beyond simply delivering gifts during holidays or at the end of the year. Through regular phone calls and occasional visits, officials listen to and support the specific challenges faced by each household, strengthening community bonds and enhancing the sense of welfare in the region.

In particular, except in special circumstances such as the death or relocation of the beneficiary or the retirement of the responsible official, the relationship is maintained, allowing public officials to serve as reliable supporters who provide substantial help to households in crisis, rather than just offering basic care.

Governor Namchul Lee stated, "Having public officials visit neighbors in need during Chuseok to share warmth and address life’s challenges together is a great source of strength for our society. Through ongoing partnership activities, we will minimize welfare blind spots and ensure that all county residents can enjoy a happy holiday."
