Applications accepted until October 17
Discovering honest and dedicated public officials
Yongsan District in Seoul (District Mayor Park Heeyoung) is accepting nominations for candidates for the 15th Yongsan District Cheongbaek Public Official Award until October 17. The Cheongbaek Public Official Award was established to discover and honor public officials who are honest and dedicated, thereby fostering a culture of public service that residents can trust.
Eligible nominees are public officials affiliated with Yongsan District who have contributed to the development of district administration through integrity and a spirit of service, maintained exemplary conduct in both their professional and personal lives, received praise from residents for fair and transparent handling of civil affairs, or enhanced residents' convenience through creative dedication to their duties. However, public officials currently undergoing disciplinary procedures or with unresolved disciplinary records are excluded.
Nominated public officials will undergo public verification, document screening, and on-site inspections before the selection committee makes the final decision, choosing one Grand Prize winner and one Main Prize winner. During the on-site inspection, opinions from related organizations and local residents will also be considered.
The Grand Prize winner will receive a cash prize of 2 million won, while the Main Prize winner will receive 1 million won, along with benefits such as priority placement in their desired department during personnel transfers. The award ceremony is scheduled to take place at the year-end closing ceremony in December.
Any district resident may participate in the nomination process. Forms can be downloaded from the announcements section of the Yongsan District Office website and submitted to the Audit Officer by email, fax, in person, or at any of the 16 local community centers.
Park Heeyoung, Mayor of Yongsan District, stated, "A small compliment from a resident is a source of pride and great motivation for public officials," and added, "We ask for your interest and participation in discovering exemplary public officials to help make Yongsan a model city of integrity."
Meanwhile, Yongsan District became the first autonomous district in Seoul to enact an ordinance for the Cheongbaek Public Official Award in 2011 and has since selected a total of 27 awardees, leading the spread of a culture of integrity.
