Culture Ministry Launches "Korea is Performing" Campaign, Recommending 210 Performances Nationwide

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on September 29 that, together with the Korea Arts Management Service, it will launch the "2025 Korea is Performing" campaign from October 14 to November 16. This initiative will promote 210 major performances taking place across the country during this period.

"Korea is Performing" is a campaign designed to provide information and benefits to the public so that they can enjoy Korea’s representative performances recommended by the Ministry during the peak season of October and November.

The 210 performances recommended by the Ministry include major productions by national and public institutions, private performances participating in the "2025 National Arts Distribution Support Project," shows by the "2025 Regional Representative Arts Organizations," and performances recommended by regional cultural foundations and arts centers. Information about these performances can be found on the official "Korea is Performing" website, searchable by region and genre. In addition, a variety of performance-related content will be offered on official social media channels.

The Ministry will also publish a "Korea is Performing" program booklet containing information on all 210 performances, which will be distributed to over 200 venues nationwide. The booklet will provide details about each performance, such as date, location, price, and cast, organized by 17 metropolitan areas. Audiences can access ticket reservation pages directly via QR codes for each performance.

Additionally, Korail will launch special railway travel packages for performance tourism during the "Korea is Performing" period, available through the official Korail website and Korail application. These packages will offer discounts of up to 30% on performances and up to 40% on KTX high-speed rail tickets.

The Ministry and the Korea Arts Management Service will also collaborate with events such as the "Performing Arts Market in Seoul (PAMS)," the "Seoul International Performing Arts Festival," the "Re:Bound Festival," and the "Welcome Daehakro Festival" to promote a diverse range of performances and support the revitalization of the performing arts scene.

The Performing Arts Market in Seoul, which facilitates business-to-business transactions to promote the domestic and international distribution of Korean performing arts, will be held from October 14 to November 9 at the National Theater of Korea, Arko and Daehakro Arts Theater, and Daehakro Theater Quad. During this period, domestic works will be showcased and distributed through programs such as PAMS Choice (showcase of outstanding domestic works and full-length performances), PAMS Salon (information sharing in the performing arts sector), PAMS Booth (promotion of arts organizations and institutions), and PAMS Speed Dating (one-on-one business meetings for performance distribution). The event will also support communication and networking among domestic and international performing arts professionals.

The Seoul International Performing Arts Festival, which introduces outstanding international works and collaborative projects, will take place from October 16 to November 9 at venues such as Arko and Daehakro Arts Theater, Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, and Daehakro Theater Quad. The festival will feature 10 invited international works in genres such as theater, dance, and multidisciplinary arts, as well as 12 collaborative projects planned by artists and organizations from Korea and abroad.

The "Re:Bound Festival," which brings outstanding regional performances to Seoul, will be held from October 16 to November 16 at the SAC Free Small Theater and major venues operated by district cultural foundations in Seoul. It will feature works by 15 of the 2025 Regional Representative Arts Organizations. The "Welcome Daehakro Festival," a performance tourism event promoting Korean performance content to foreigners, will take place from September 26 to November 2 in the Daehakro area, Myeongdong, the National Museum of Korea, and other locations.

Minister Choi Hwi-young stated, "Korea is Performing is a campaign prepared to increase opportunities for our citizens to enjoy performances during the peak season. We hope that Korea is Performing will organically connect performances and major festivals and markets across the country, actively engage with audiences, and contribute to the revitalization of the performing arts."
