Seongdong-gu in Seoul (District Mayor Chung Won-oh) will host the “2025 Seongdong AI Idea Challenge” throughout November this year, aiming to discover everyday problem-solving ideas using generative artificial intelligence (ChatGPT). Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until October 25.
This challenge is designed for 50 students from fourth grade in elementary school to third grade in middle school within Seongdong-gu. Participating students will receive training every Saturday at the Seongdong AI & Future Technology Experience Center and will ultimately take part in the “AI Utilization Competition.”
The program consists of four stages: education on generative artificial intelligence, team-based idea meetings and presentation preparation, the idea competition, and company visits in the AI sector. Students will be organized into ten teams of five, and with guidance from educational expert mentors, they will develop solutions to a variety of topics such as environment, education, and culture, and prepare presentation materials.
The competition will be held on November 22, and the top five teams will receive awards from the Seongdong-gu District Mayor. Prizes will be given to two teams for excellence, two teams for outstanding performance, and one team for collaboration. In addition, on November 29, a special lecture and company visit with current employees of the global software company Oracle will be offered, providing participating students with an opportunity to explore career paths in the AI field.
Students wishing to participate can apply by scanning the QR code provided in the promotional materials by October 25. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Chung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, stated, “I hope this challenge will help children learn how to contribute to our society using AI and serve as a stepping stone for them to grow into future talents. We will continue to create various opportunities to prepare for the changing future society.”
