"I Will Make Every Effort to Attend"
Lee Junseok, Representative of the Reform New Party, has stated that he will make every effort to attend the trial of First Lady Kim Keonhee, who has been indicted and detained on charges including violations of the Capital Markets Act and the Political Funds Act, as a witness.
On the 26th, through his social networking service (SNS), Representative Lee said, "Although the trial schedule overlaps with the National Assembly audit and there may be situations where it is physically difficult to attend, I will do my best to be present unless such conflicts arise."
He added, "I understand that the court has determined my testimony is necessary in the trial concerning former First Lady Kim Keonhee. As I have always done, I will answer the court's questions sincerely, providing accurate information about what I know and clearly stating when I do not know something, according to the facts."
He also remarked, "This will be my first time testifying in court, but I suppose life brings such experiences."
The Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 27 (Presiding Judge Woo Inseong), which is handling the case involving allegations of stock price manipulation at Deutsche Motors and intervention in party nominations by Kim Keonhee, has decided to summon Representative Lee Junseok, Assemblyman Yoon Sanghyun of the People Power Party, and Kang Hyekyung, the initial whistleblower of the 'Myeong Taegyun Gate,' as witnesses next month.
The court had previously expressed uncertainty about whether Assemblyman Yoon Sanghyun and Representative Lee Junseok would appear as witnesses, but Representative Lee's proactive willingness to attend has alleviated these concerns.
