The Jangbogo Trading Post is a dedicated export organization established to enhance the global competitiveness of Wando's seafood and revitalize the local economy. Currently, 28 export companies from the region are participating.
In March, representatives visited Vietnam and Laos to promote the excellence of Wando seafood. In April, they held an export consultation event in conjunction with the 3rd Jangbogo Hansang World Conference in New York, USA. At this event, nine companies signed a total of 14 export agreements worth approximately 18.6 million dollars, of which 4.8 million dollars have already resulted in actual contracts.
Additionally, by inviting a U.S. distribution agency and holding an export consultation with nine local companies, Wando's seasoned seaweed with rock salt was selected as a promising product for entry into Walmart and Kim's Club distribution networks in the United States, and the process for product placement is currently underway.
Wando County also participated in the Seoul International Food Industry Exhibition and the Korea Seafood Show, conducting 370 buyer consultations and achieving export agreements totaling 2.2 million dollars. In October, the county plans to promote Wando's specialty products at the Los Angeles Korean Festival and to hold promotional events on the LA home shopping channel 'Home Shopping World' as well as at 'T&T Supermarket' in Vancouver, Canada.
In addition, Wando County intends to raise global awareness of its seafood by hosting overseas promotional events in Rotterdam, Netherlands; Sofia, Bulgaria; and Shanghai, China, and by participating in the '2025 Korea Business Expo' and the 'Busan International Seafood Expo.'
A county official stated, "The active overseas market development efforts of the Jangbogo Trading Post are making significant contributions to expanding exports and globalizing Wando seafood."
