This event was organized to encourage Korean children living abroad who are learning about Korean history, Hangeul, and traditional games, at a time when Korean cuisine-especially gimbap-is gaining significant popularity in the United States. First Lady Kim, together with food columnist and chef Kim Kiran, demonstrated her skills by personally rolling gimbap for the children.

While helping the children make gimbap, First Lady Kim remarked, "Rolling gimbap is not easy, so I never imagined the children would be this good at it. It is wonderful to see everyone putting so much care into preparing the food. I hope that today was not just about making gimbap, but also a time to experience and learn about Korean food culture."

Deputy Spokesperson Jeon also shared that when First Lady Kim mentioned a scene from the movie "K-Pop Demon Hunters" where the main characters eat whole gimbap, the children immediately related to it and expressed their delight.

Finally, First Lady Kim Hye-kyung concluded the event by expressing her hope that the children from Manhattan Korean School, as well as other Korean children abroad, will learn Korean language and culture well, become bridges between Korea and the United States, and serve as outstanding ambassadors for Korea around the world.
