Promoting Local Ingredients, Signature Dishes, and Tourist Resources
Suncheon City in South Jeolla Province announced on September 25 that it will operate a promotional booth and showcase a variety of gourmet content with local businesses at the 2025 Namdo International Gourmet Industry Expo, which will be held from October 1 to 26 around the Mokpo Culture and Arts Center.
This expo, co-hosted by South Jeolla Province and Mokpo City under the theme "A Table Set by Nature, the Future of a Sustainable Gourmet Industry," will feature city and county promotional booths (Gourmet Culture Hall), food trucks serving signature dishes (Namdo Gourmet Zone), and sales of local specialties (Market Zone).
The city plans to promote its signature ingredients, dishes, and gourmet tourism destinations through exhibitions and hands-on programs, and to highlight the charm of Suncheon through visitor events. In particular, the booth will allow visitors to directly experience the distinctive flavors and unique local specialties of Suncheon Bay through participation by various local businesses, including a cooking exhibition and tasting event by the local restaurant Shinhwajeong, as well as contributions from Seongsan Farm Garden, Suncheonman Bobusang Cooperative, Shinkwangsu Tea, and Suncheonman Moringa Cooperative.
Taking this expo as an opportunity, the city aims to systematically promote the excellence of its leading tourist attractions and gourmet resources-such as Suncheonman National Garden, Suncheonman Wetland, and Utjang Gukbap Street-to the world, and to establish its image as a tourism hub city where gourmet food and tourism are harmoniously combined.
