Chonnam National University Hospital announced on the 25th that it had conducted a joint mobile medical service with related organizations for about 200 residents in Gogeun-myeon, Jindo-gun, Jeonnam. This medical outreach was organized to provide specialized medical services to elderly residents in rural and fishing villages with insufficient healthcare infrastructure and to strengthen the local community's health safety net.

Jindo-gun is classified as a super-aged area, with 48.9% of its population aged 60 or older as of June this year, making the need for chronic disease management and regular health checkups extremely high. In response, Chonnam National University Hospital minimized medical service gaps by delivering specialized care directly to residents who have difficulty accessing such services in their daily lives.

The service was held at the Gogeun-myeon Senior Citizens' Center, where a "one-stop medical system" was set up to allow residents to receive registration, consultation, examination, and treatment all in one place. The hospital dispatched a team of over 10 medical professionals, including specialists from cardiology, rehabilitation medicine, otolaryngology, and dentistry, as well as nurses and administrative staff. The medical team provided detailed services such as consultations for chronic disease management like hypertension and diabetes, cardiology ultrasound exams, rehabilitation medicine injections, otolaryngology endoscopic exams, and dental extractions and nerve treatments. Medications were also provided to patients as needed.

This outreach program went beyond simple medical support, involving collaboration among various public institutions. The National Health Insurance Service dispatched medical vehicles and support staff to ensure a smooth environment for treatment, while the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service provided specialized nursing personnel. The Gwangju Pharmaceutical Association donated medications, and Korea Water Resources Corporation installed smart water dispensers to supply clean and safe water, supporting residents' healthy daily lives with tailored services.

Despite busy schedules, medical specialists from Chonnam National University Hospital volunteered to participate, and nurses and administrative staff joined in solidarity, fulfilling the social responsibility and mission of healthcare professionals.

Yoon Hyunju, Director of Public Health Medical Services at Chonnam National University Hospital (Professor of Cardiology), stated, "Through this joint medical outreach, we were able to help local seniors lead healthier lives and make significant progress in the early detection and prevention of diseases. As a leading public healthcare institution in the Honam region, we will continue our efforts to bridge healthcare gaps and strengthen the public health safety net in the region."
