Hong Joonpyo: "Lee Administration Reminds Me of Chun Doohwan's NSEPC... Concerned About Reckless Actions"

"Reminiscent of Chun Doohwan's NSEPC"
Pressuring for Abolition of Prosecution Service and Chief Justice's Resignation Is Political Retaliation

Hong Joonpyo: "Lee Administration Reminds Me of Chun Doohwan's NSEPC... Concerned About Reckless Actions" Hong Joonpyo, former mayor of Daegu. TV Hongkacola

Hong Joonpyo, former mayor of Daegu, continues to deliver sharp criticism against President Lee Jaemyung. He has been pressuring not only for the abolition of the prosecution service but also for the resignation of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, warning that such reckless push could eventually lead to serious consequences.

On September 25, Hong Joonpyo wrote on his social media, "Am I the only one who feels that the Lee Jaemyung administration, which came to power through an election, is reminiscent of the National Security Emergency Planning Committee (NSEPC) of the Chun Doohwan regime in the early 1980s?" The NSEPC was a temporary administrative body established by the Chun Doohwan regime to seize control of the cabinet, arrest and force the retirement of prominent politicians, and take control of the media.

Hong further stated, "Is the special prosecutor’s investigation, which is being carried out just like the investigation into the abuse of state affairs under the Moon Jaein administration, as well as the recent abolition of the prosecution service with its 80-year tradition as retaliation against prosecutors, and the pressure for the Chief Justice’s resignation and judicial reform as retaliation against judges, truly reforms for the people?" He added, "Isn’t that political retaliation? I have no objection to punishing wrongdoing, but I am concerned about the outcome of such excessive and reckless actions."

He continued, "It is worth reflecting again on the current situation faced by Yoon Sukyeol and Han Donghoon, which is the result of their own actions during the early days of the Moon Jaein administration. As the saying goes, 'No flower blooms for ten days straight.'"
