For 1,080 Employees... 100,000 Won Per Person
Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province will provide a welfare allowance of 100,000 won per person to employees at 131 social welfare facilities within the city.
According to the city on September 25, this welfare allowance is intended to encourage and recognize the dedication of workers who quietly serve in the social welfare field and to improve their working conditions.
The allowance will be distributed to 1,080 eligible employees in the form of Jeongeup Sarang gift certificates. This is expected to provide tangible benefits to the workers while also promoting local consumption and boosting sales for small business owners in the area.
Since 2019, the city has provided welfare allowances every year during the Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays. In 2021, Jeongeup became the first in the province to enroll social welfare facility employees in a government-supported group accident insurance program, fully covering the 10,000 won personal contribution for each worker and thereby strengthening the welfare safety net.
Additionally, the city has continuously promoted the rights and improved the working environment of employees through various initiatives, such as supporting continuing education and domestic training expenses.
A city official stated, "Social welfare workers are the strong foundation of our local community," adding, "We will continue to expand our policies and maintain our commitment so that employees can work safely and with a sense of purpose."
