On September 24, Seoul Mayor Oh Sehoon stated that the Han River Bus is an essential infrastructure for branding that can enhance the city's competitiveness.
During a special lecture held at Yonsei University under the theme "In the Era of AI Upheaval, What Will We Compete With - Me, and Seoul," Mayor Oh responded to a student's question about why the city is introducing the Han River Bus without improving the village bus system, especially since the village bus transfer system is being discontinued. He said, "Just as Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) has now become a 'must-visit place' for people around the world, misunderstandings about the Han River Bus will not last long."
He added, "The Han River Bus is operated by Han River Bus Corporation, and claims that it is run with taxpayers' money are political attacks and fake news."

Additionally, Mayor Oh emphasized that with the universalization of intellectual capabilities brought by artificial intelligence (AI) technology, thorough preparation is necessary for individuals, cities, and even nations to secure competitiveness. He introduced Seoul's 'radical strategies' to boost urban competitiveness in the AI era, such as the Han River Renaissance and support for creative industries, as well as 'million-seller policies' that have garnered strong public support.
Mayor Oh stated, "We must continue to develop creative thinking that equips us with competitiveness and individuality to navigate the era of AI upheaval, discover insights within the branding strategies of cities and nations, and design the future."
