Farming Made Easier with AI: Rural Development Administration Partners with Naver Cloud to Develop 'Agricultural AI Agent'

Full Service Launches This Month After Pilot Phase
Enhanced Accuracy and Reliability Through Learning from RDA Farming Manuals
Voice Recognition and Pest Identification Features to Be Added in the Future

The Rural Development Administration has launched a full-scale operation of its agricultural artificial intelligence (AI) agent service, which allows users to ask and answer questions related to farming, such as pest control and cultivation techniques, based on its vast digital agriculture data.

On September 24, the Rural Development Administration announced that, in order to expand the use of AI in the daily lives of farmers, it is providing the agricultural AI agent service-developed in collaboration with private companies such as Naver Cloud-through the existing 'Latest Agricultural Technology Informer' app.

Farming Made Easier with AI: Rural Development Administration Partners with Naver Cloud to Develop 'Agricultural AI Agent'

Lee Sangho, Director of Planning and Coordination at the Rural Development Administration, explained, "We developed the agricultural AI agent by combining our extensive digital agriculture data with Naver Cloud's top-tier domestic AI and cloud technology. To ensure the accuracy of responses, we conducted additional data collection and learning during the pilot phase and launched the service after expert verification."

The agricultural AI agent is available through the Latest Agricultural Technology Informer app. It consists of the following features: ▲Farming Information Chatbot (Agricultural Encyclopedia), ▲Personalized Education Recommendations (Agricultural Education), and ▲Step-by-Step Farming Planning for Returning Farmers (Farming Design).

The Agricultural Encyclopedia is a generative AI chatbot service. To minimize the issue of inaccurate responses often produced by large language models (LLMs), the Rural Development Administration trained the AI with extensive agricultural data, including the 'Nongsaro' agricultural technology portal and farming technology books published by the agency, thereby implementing practical on-site support functions.

Agricultural Education is a user-customized service that links more than 1,700 agricultural technology videos with AI. Users can ask questions while watching the videos, and the AI will respond and, if necessary, provide summaries of the video content.

The Rural Development Administration plans to add features such as voice-based Q&A and image-based responses alongside documents in November this year. In addition, by the first half of 2026, it will enhance the Farming Design service by introducing pest and disease image recognition capabilities and incorporating consumption and distribution data to provide optimal management solutions tailored to farm size.

Furthermore, the agency aims to expand the AI agent's learning scope to include specialized data from information systems operated by the Rural Development Administration, such as weather disaster and pest prediction and diagnosis, soil, crop varieties, food, and pesticides. This will help the agricultural AI agent evolve into a tool that supports optimal decision-making for farmers.

Director Lee stated, "This newly developed agriculture-specialized AI agent marks the starting point of AI transformation in the agricultural sector. We will continue to expand its features to enhance efficiency and sustainability in the field and accelerate the integration of AI into farmers' daily lives through data-driven farming."
