Guro District Launches Practical Training Program “Urban Renewal Academy” for Redevelopment and Reconstruction

Four-Week Program Starting October 22
For Residents and Association Executives

Guro District in Seoul (District Mayor Jang Inhong) will launch the “2025 Guro District Urban Renewal Academy,” a practical training program on redevelopment projects, for the first time to support residents and association members. The program will be held every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. from October 22 to November 12 at the district office auditorium, comprising a total of four sessions.

This program aims to enhance residents’ understanding of urban renewal projects, such as redevelopment and reconstruction, and to strengthen the practical capabilities of those leading these initiatives. Up to 150 participants, including residents interested in urban renewal and members or executives of promotion committees and associations, will be eligible. Each session will be led by expert instructors specializing in the respective topics.

In the first session on October 22, Choi Hyuntae will give a lecture on “Understanding Reconstruction Projects.” The second session on October 29 will feature Lee Eunsuk, who will cover “Understanding Redevelopment Projects.” The third session on November 5 will be led by Shin Jaehoon, focusing on “Small-Scale Housing Renewal and Moa Town Projects,” and the final session on November 12 will see Kim Taeik explain “Organization and Operation of Associations (Promotion Committees).”

Those wishing to participate can register online in advance or sign up on-site on the day of the event. Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis and may close early if capacity is reached.

The district expects that, through this academy, residents and association executives will gain accurate information about urban renewal projects and be able to prevent conflicts and confusion that may arise during project implementation.
