Asterion Invited for Special Lecture on European Investment Strategies
Korea Investment Corporation (KIC), the sovereign wealth fund, invited Korean institutional investors to London, United Kingdom, to discuss prospects for the European infrastructure market and explore investment opportunities.
On September 23, KIC announced that its London branch hosted the 33rd 'London International Financial Council' on September 22 (local time).
More than 30 representatives from the Korean government and public investment institutions, as well as local branches of Korean securities firms, banks, and insurance companies operating in London, attended the event.
The keynote presentation was delivered by Winnie Wutt, co-founder of Asterion Industrial Partners, a European infrastructure investment management company. Established in 2018, Asterion Industrial Partners specializes in European infrastructure investments. Headquartered in Madrid, Spain, the company currently manages approximately 8.5 billion euros (about 14 trillion won) in assets.
She stated, "Despite geopolitical uncertainties and volatility, European infrastructure investment continues to show a remarkably robust trend. Notably, mid-market investments, with deal sizes ranging from 100 million to 1 billion euros, account for about half of all transactions in the European infrastructure market."
She added, "Mid-market investments are particularly attractive to long-term investors because they face relatively less competition for early entry while offering high growth potential. In particular, industries related to energy transition-such as renewable energy and eco-friendly fuels-as well as digital infrastructure like data centers and fiber-optic networks, and smart mobility, are expected to become the main growth engines of the European economy in the future."
Lee Geonwoong, head of KIC's London branch and the event's organizer, commented, "Recently, investments in digital and energy infrastructure have shown solid demand, aligning with Europe's advanced industry development policies and strategies for energy cost stabilization. This council provided a valuable opportunity to enhance understanding of European infrastructure mid-market investment strategies, which offer diverse investment opportunities and significant growth potential."
