Prompt Restoration of Forests in Large-Scale Wildfire-Affected Areas
Sancheong County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on the 23rd that it held a "Regional Council Meeting for Forest Restoration in Wildfire-Damaged Areas" at the county government conference room.
This council meeting, attended by officials from South Gyeongsang Province, representatives of Sancheong County, and forestry experts, was convened to facilitate the prompt restoration of forests in areas affected by the large-scale wildfire that occurred in March.
The council addressed topics including: ▲analysis of the current status of damaged areas, ▲selection of suitable tree species and reforestation methods, ▲establishment of forest restoration direction, and ▲development of restoration strategies tailored to local conditions. In particular, there was an in-depth discussion on the need for ecosystem recovery and restoration efforts based on resident participation.
Meanwhile, based on the outcomes of this council meeting, Sancheong County plans to hold a resident briefing session in October and begin reforestation projects in the spring of next year.
An official from Sancheong County stated, "We will fully reflect the opinions of forest owners to establish and implement a restoration plan that fits the needs of the local area."
