KakaoBank announced on the 22nd that its in-house technology conference, "Kode Runner 2025 (CodeRunner)," held at Suwon Convention Center, concluded successfully.

"CodeRunner" is an annual in-house technology conference where KakaoBank employees gather to share the latest technological experiences and knowledge. This year, the event expanded its participants to include not only technical staff but also non-technical staff, transforming into a company-wide platform for technology culture. The event saw record attendance, with over 750 employees who registered in advance participating.

This year's conference was divided into three main themes: ▲AI ▲Tech ▲Debt Free (eliminating technical debt), featuring a total of 12 presentations. The "AI" session shared experiences of utilizing AI during service development and implementation. The "Tech" session covered major achievements in financial IT, such as core banking and backend systems. The "Debt Free" session presented cases of resolving technical debt by improving incomplete code and enhancing completeness in the development process.

In particular, participants responded enthusiastically to detailed presentations on real-world projects using the latest technologies, including the development process of AI-based search services, optimization of account database systems, and strategies for automating cloud-based infrastructure. These presentations shared both the trial-and-error experiences and the solutions found along the way.

This year's CodeRunner featured a richer program by adding interactive sessions such as coding workshops and discussions. The "Hands-on" session included practical exercises like "AI Agent Swarm Coding," and there was a patent seminar covering global AI patent trends. During the group discussion session, employees freely exchanged opinions under the theme, "How Should KakaoBank Developers Work in the Age of AI?"

Additionally, the event included the technology leader Q&A program "Leader Talk" and a special lecture by Professor Um Sungwoo of Seoul National University titled "Becoming a Humble Adult in the Age of AI," which enhanced communication and encouraged humanistic reflection, raising the overall quality of the conference. Furthermore, an AI experience zone operated by global partners such as Google, Microsoft, and AWS enriched the on-site atmosphere.

In his keynote speech, KakaoBank CTO Shin Jaehong stated, "As a technology-driven bank, our task is to maintain financial stability while continuously innovating," emphasizing, "Through this event, let us all, regardless of job or role, build experiences in sharing technology, actively embrace the changes of the AI era, and become leaders who accelerate innovation."

KakaoBank has continued to strengthen its technological capabilities through various events, including the in-house hackathon "Bankerthon," regular technical seminars "DevCon," and external networking seminars with guest speakers "DevInvite." With the successful hosting of this year's "CodeRunner," the company has further advanced its internal technology culture and solidified its leadership in financial technology.

Going forward, KakaoBank plans to continue fostering innovation by providing various opportunities for employees to grow together through diverse platforms for technical exchange.
