The event was attended by Pohang Mayor Lee Gangdeok, Pohang City Council Chairman Kim Ilman, and Jeong Sangjun, head of the Pohang branch of the Federation of Korean Trade Unions. Around 2,000 workers from the Pohang area, along with their families and other citizens, gathered to enjoy a day of sports and unity in the refreshing autumn breeze.
The event, which was also attended by Kim Dongmyeong, president of the Federation of Korean Trade Unions, featured activities that required teamwork, such as group jump rope and tug-of-war, allowing participants to bond and have fun together.
In addition to the official competitions, a variety of programs were prepared for all ages, including a community performance, prize drawings, singing, and talent shows, which were met with great enthusiasm from the participants.
Jeong Sangjun, head of the Pohang branch of the Federation of Korean Trade Unions, said, "I am grateful to all the workers who contribute to the development of our region and industries. I hope that today, at least, you can set aside your burdens and fully enjoy this time with your families."
Mayor Lee Gangdeok stated, "I would like to thank all the workers who are dedicated to the development of the local economy on the frontlines of industry. Pohang City will also do its part to support workers and help overcome the local industrial crisis. I hope today's event provides a joyful and refreshing break from daily life."
