Yeosu City in South Jeolla Province announced on the 19th that it will provide free influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations from the 22nd of this month until April 30th of next year.
The free influenza vaccination is available to children (aged 6 months to 13 years), pregnant women, seniors aged 65 and older, and vulnerable groups. The vaccination start dates for each group are as follows: ▲ Children requiring two doses from the 22nd ▲ Children requiring one dose and pregnant women from the 29th ▲ Seniors aged 65 and older from October 15 ▲ Vulnerable groups (recipients of basic livelihood security aged 14-64, persons with severe disabilities, and national merit recipients under 64) from October 20.
The free COVID-19 vaccination will begin on October 15, with eligibility extended to ▲ seniors aged 65 and older ▲ immunocompromised individuals ▲ residents and inpatients of infection-prone facilities. In particular, seniors aged 65 and older can receive both the influenza and COVID-19 vaccines at the same time.
Designated vaccination clinics can be found on the Vaccination Helper website or the Yeosu City website, and eligible individuals may receive free vaccinations at any designated clinic nationwide, regardless of their registered address. However, influenza vaccinations for vulnerable groups are available only at public health centers within Yeosu City.
Yeosu City Public Health Center and the Central Public Health Branch will operate a reservation system throughout October for seniors aged 65 and older and vulnerable groups. Reservations will be accepted by phone on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 9 a.m. on the 29th, with vaccination appointments scheduled from October 20 to 31.
During October, only those with reservations will be able to receive vaccinations, but starting in November, vaccinations will be available without a reservation. However, visitors must check the operating days of the public health centers in advance.
A city official stated, "We expect that these free vaccinations will greatly help protect the health of our citizens and prevent the spread of infectious diseases," and urged, "Please check the vaccination schedule in advance and make sure to complete your vaccination within the designated period."
