Gyeonggi Province Allocates 42.1942 Trillion Won in Second Supplementary Budget

Gyeonggi Province's second supplementary budget for this year, totaling 42.1942 trillion won, was approved by the Gyeonggi Provincial Council on September 19, 2025. This represents an increase of 2.9116 trillion won compared to the first supplementary budget of 39.2826 trillion won earlier this year, with 2.7381 trillion won added to the general account and 173.5 billion won to the special account.


The provincial government explained that this supplementary budget focuses on initiatives to revitalize the local economy, support future industries, assist vulnerable groups, and ensure residents' safety.


First, for economic revitalization, 3.238 trillion won has been allocated, including 3.1234 trillion won for consumption coupons to boost the local economy, 99 billion won to support the issuance of local currency, 1 billion won to promote the Baedal Teukgeup delivery service, 5.2 billion won for the Gyeonggi Pass, and 9.4 billion won for special monthly rent support for young people.


A budget of 131.2 billion won has been set aside to provide tailored care for vulnerable groups. In response to the low birth rate crisis, 1.7 billion won has been allocated for infertility treatment for couples, and 6.3 billion won for maternal and newborn health management.


To strengthen public responsibility for children and adolescents during their growth period, 2.9 billion won has been allocated to support eco-friendly school meals, and 850 million won for universal provision of sanitary products for female adolescents.

For customized support for vulnerable groups, the budget includes 700 million won to provide smart learning devices to local children's centers, 6 billion won to subsidize sports facility usage fees for seniors, and 11.1 billion won to expand daytime activity services for individuals with developmental disabilities.


Additionally, to ensure residents' safety, 1.4 billion won has been allocated for fire insurance for disaster-vulnerable groups. In areas such as Gapyeong and Pocheon, which suffered significant damage from the recent heavy rains, 32.6 billion won has been allocated for disaster response and flood recovery, and 39.3 billion won for maintenance and restoration in areas at risk of floods and typhoons.


Furthermore, 4.4 billion won has been earmarked to support customs and export-related companies and foster future industries, 500 million won for the AI Proof-of-Concept Challenge Program, 360 million won for AI and quantum technology proof-of-concept and consulting, and 3.5 billion won for the development of small-scale smart cities.


On this day, Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dongyeon attended the 386th temporary session of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council and stated, "We will execute this valuable budget, which you have approved today, swiftly and efficiently so that it can serve as a catalyst for economic recovery and improved quality of life for our residents."
