"Minimizing Gaps in Childcare"
Wanju County in North Jeolla Province announced on the 19th that it has designated Sarangddeul Daycare Center in Iseo-myeon as its first "Holiday Childcare Center" and has officially begun operations.
The county explained that it will operate the Holiday Childcare Center on weekends and public holidays to minimize gaps in childcare, allowing parents to entrust their children with peace of mind even on holidays.
Recently, there has been a sharp increase in demand for childcare due to the growing number of dual-income couples, weekend workers, grandparent-headed families, and single-parent families. However, the existing daycare system has struggled to meet these diverse needs.
The service is available from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Sundays and public holidays. On average, one teacher cares for five children, and the number of children can be adjusted to accommodate children with disabilities or infants under one year old.
The county plans to continue expanding the designation of Holiday Childcare Centers, actively supporting more families to alleviate the challenges of parenting.
County Governor Yoo Heetae stated, "As dual-income couples and various family types continue to increase, holiday childcare services play an important role in strengthening the community's childcare infrastructure," adding, "We will do our utmost to ensure Wanju County becomes an even better city for raising children in the future."
