Gijang County in Busan Selected for Greenbelt Resident Support Project... Secures 3.09 Billion Won in Funding

Including a 500 Million Won Incentive for Exemplary Cases
Accelerating Improvements in Living Conditions Through Road Expansion and Nuri-gil Trail Development

Gijang County (Governor Jung Jongbok) announced on September 18 that it has been selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's "2026 Greenbelt Resident Support Project," securing a total project budget of 3.09 billion won, including a 500 million won incentive for exemplary cases.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport supports "living infrastructure projects," such as village access road construction and parking lot development, as well as "environmental and cultural projects," including Nuri-gil trail creation and landscape improvement, to enhance the quality of life for residents within greenbelt zones and to promote balanced regional development.

In 2024, Gijang County was selected for four projects: the Cheolma-ro road expansion, Nareumteocheon maintenance, Ilgwangsan Baramnuri-gil trail creation, and Imgi Village pocket park development. In 2025, the Ilgwangsan Morning Sunshine Garden Forest landscape project was also selected, securing a total of over 3.3 billion won, with some projects completed and others underway.

For the 2026 project, the "Cheolma-ro road expansion (Jangjeon Village area)," which reflects the residents’ ongoing requests, has been selected again. The expansion of the road and the construction of new sidewalks are expected not only to prevent safety accidents and resolve traffic inconveniences but also to improve the living environment for residents in underdeveloped areas.

In particular, the "Ilgwangsan Baramnuri-gil trail creation project," selected in 2024, was recognized as an exemplary case by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, earning an additional 500 million won incentive. The project was highly evaluated for its consideration of social minorities by constructing decked trails and observation platforms that allow people with mobility challenges to safely enjoy nature, as well as for its attention to landscape aesthetics.

Jung Jongbok, Governor of Gijang County, stated, "Securing this national budget will greatly contribute to improving the lives and welfare of residents inconvenienced by the designation of greenbelt zones," adding, "We will continue to actively identify and promote resident support projects to enhance quality of life."
