Bonghwa's Solution: Retaining Local Funds and Boosting Small Business Sales
Bonghwa County in Gyeongbuk will offer a special sale of local gift certificates under exceptional conditions until the end of the year. The discount rate has been raised from the previous 10% to 15%, and the monthly purchase limit per person has been increased to a maximum of 1.2 million won.
Previously, Bonghwa Love Gift Certificates could only be purchased up to 500,000 won per month, combining both paper and card types. However, with this new measure, up to 500,000 won per month is allowed for the paper type, and up to 700,000 won per month for card and mobile types, enabling individuals to secure up to 1.2 million won each month.
Purchases of the paper type can be made at local financial institution sales agencies, while card and mobile types are available through the local gift certificate app 'chak.' However, sales may be restricted at the end of the month if the budget is exhausted.
Park Hyunkook, Mayor of Bonghwa County, stated, "Although the increased discount rate and expanded purchase limit will be implemented temporarily until the end of the year, they will have a direct effect on boosting local consumption and preventing outflow of funds. This will also provide substantial support for increasing sales at traditional markets and among small business owners."
This measure is expected to not only ease the financial burden on residents but also serve as a stimulus to revitalize the stagnant domestic market.
