This campaign was held in conjunction with a children's traffic safety campaign, with participation from Cheorwon County, Cheorwon Police Station, Cheorwon Office of Education, Sincheorwon Elementary School, the Model Drivers' Association, and the Outdoor Advertising Association, totaling more than 40 participants.
Under the slogan "Please put children's safety first," the campaign distributed promotional materials to students on their way to school, parents, and local merchants within the school zone to promote the eradication of illegal advertisements, encourage compliance with traffic safety rules, and raise awareness about eliminating potential hazards to create a safer commuting environment for children.
After the campaign, illegal banners and explicit harmful advertisements near school routes, especially within the school zone, were immediately removed. In addition, there was a focused crackdown and safety inspection of old and dangerous signs to prevent safety accidents.
A Cheorwon County official stated, "It was a meaningful event in which the public sector, local government, and police worked together to eradicate illegal advertisements and create a safe commuting environment within children's protection zones." The official added, "We will continue to actively pursue various policies prioritizing children's safety in cooperation with related organizations."
Cheorwon County has designated the period from August 25 to September 25 as an intensive period for eliminating and inspecting potential hazards at the start of the school term, focusing all efforts on publicity and prevention in five key areas: traffic safety (such as observing speed limits in children's protection zones), food safety (hygiene inspections), harmful environments, product safety, and illegal advertisements.
