Currently, the proportion of seniors in Goheung County stands at 46.6% of the total population, the highest level in the country, and the proportion of elderly living alone reaches 40%. This year, the county has allocated a budget of 5.5 billion won and deployed 214 personnel to provide customized care services to 2,947 seniors.
In his lecture, Governor Gong Youngmin stated, "The senior customized care service is a preventive care service that minimizes the need for long-term care classification and supports independent living for seniors." He added, "Previously, when recipients of the home meal delivery service became eligible for the senior customized care service, the meal delivery was discontinued due to overlapping restrictions. However, starting next year, we will allow overlapping support by reflecting feedback from the field."
He further emphasized, "The warm care provided by life support workers is bringing positive changes to the daily lives of seniors and is becoming a valuable asset for Goheung County. The county will also actively support efforts to improve your working conditions."
Meanwhile, the senior customized care service provides care to seniors aged 65 or older who are basic livelihood security recipients, near-poor households, or basic pension recipients in need of support, through home visits or phone calls two to three times a week. This initiative ensures the safety of seniors and alleviates inconveniences in daily life, helping them enjoy a healthier and more comfortable later life.
